Not having the proper exhaust of your dryer will cause the dryer to work harder- It can’t ventilate the heat correctly and therefore it could overheat. When working at its best, your dryer will heat to around 130 degrees Fahrenheit. If it doesn’t have the proper ventilation however, it could reach as much as 160 degrees which could then cause damage and possibly lead to a fire.  This can also create undue stress on your system and could ultimately cause it to fail.
